Increased capacity delivers on single-site vision

EC Group has expanded its already substantial operation in its new single-site logistics centre at Europa Park, Grays.

The acquisition, completed on 24 May, of an additional warehouse unit adjacent to its existing site gives a total built capacity at Grays in excess of 80,000 square feet. EC Group also has planning consent for two further units which will make a total logistics centre capacity of around 120,000 sq ft.

The single site development is already delivering improvements in communication and operational efficiency, and, when complete, will provide greater scale, flexibility and depth of resource, all of which will be of considerable benefit to EC Group's clients.

"Scale is a key factor in our ability to drive service improvements and deliver on our single-site vision," says Chris Long, EC Group's managing director. "With this new acquisition - and the further developments to come - we will be able to take our world-class fulfilment and logistics services to a new level."

The newly acquired unit will be fitted out in the next few weeks with a wireless network and mechanical handling equipment. It should be fully operational by the end of June.
